A Foster Mother

A Foster Mother c1884 by British Painter Charles Sillem Lidderdale (1831 – 1895); who specialized in creating idealized portraits of young girls and woman in outdoor settings

This is a beautiful idealized portrait of a young girl that is standing in front of a fenced off area of what seams to be a forest in the background.

She has golden blonde hair that is tied off with a red ribbon on the top back of her head, and is dressed in a light blue blouse and a brown pleated skirt.

In her arms wrapped in a white blanket she is holding a black and brown face puppy that is quietly sleeping with its head upon the left area of her chest.

In the background in front of the large wooden fence we can see the rich colored soil and tall grasses and some green and orange plants or small trees that border the fence.
