Aimée A Young Egyptian

Aimée A Young Egyptian c1869 by French Painter Émile Vernet-Lecomte (1821 – 1900); portrait painter of the aristocracy and the wealthy bourgeoisie.

This is a beautiful painter of a young lady that appears to be a dancer, dressed in a flamboyant outfit of lavish color.

On her head is a red silk kerchief with gold accents, and on top of that another light green kerchief; the red kerchief is held in place by a band that has gold coins of various sizes attached to it.

She is also wearing god earrings that are mad up of gold coins with a gold necklace choker and gold coin necklace that follows the design of the gold earrings.

In her opened right hand tied to her thumb and middle finger are brass finger cymbals; and on her right wrist is a turquoise bracelet and on her left wrist is a gold and blue gemstone bracelet the complements the style of her earrings and necklace.

Her silk blouse is a tan in color and is of a deep V-style that goes down to her stomach, and on top of that he is wearing a blue with gold trim strap vest.

She then has a gold silk sash with black vertical stripe patterns around it’s perimeter that has a large tassel on the front; which hangs all the way down her red silk skirt.

Behind her is a stone wall with a column accent to the right or left of her with a pattern red and blue drape covering an entrance way that matches the patterns of a chair that is behind her to her right or our left.

Since a very heavy Gaussian was applied to the background portion and other areas of the image to compensate for the wrinkling of the image due to the painting coming lose from the frame; I decided to ad a 4x block fractal cloud emboss to the background wall to overcome the blur.

The other areas that had the blue applied I dealt with using the Clone Stamp tool, Inpaint tool and with adding noise to average out the wrinkles in the sides of the image. I also sharpened up the figure since there were areas on the face that had blurs applied as well.

Émile Vernet-Lecomte, was born Charles Émile Hippolyte Lecomte in 1821 to the French Battle Painter Hippolyte Lecomte (1781 – 1857).

He came from a long line of famous painters which also included his grandfather Claude Joseph Vernet (1714 – 1789); his father (mentioned above) was the son-in-law of Carle Vernet (1758 – 1836), and the nephew of Horace Vernet (1789 – 1863).

His teachers included Horace Vernet and French Painter Léon Cogniet (1794 – 1880); and the age of 22 he had his first exhibition at the Salon in 1843, winning the bronze medal.

Émile started his artistic career painting portraits of the aristocracy and the wealthy bourgeoisie; but soon developed a taste for Orientalism (the depiction of aspects in the Eastern world), with his first work in this genre being exhibited at the Salon in 1847, including many portraits of Middle Eastern women.

He also created many paintings based on the events of the time as his father did; producing works on the Crimean War and the slaughter of the Maronites by the Druze during the 1860 Mount Lebanon Civil War.
