Dambrun – Le Sommeil Interrompu

Dambrun – Le Sommeil Interrompu by French Engraver François Marie Isidore Queverdo (1748 – 1797); and finished by French Artist Jean Dambu (1741 – 1808)

This is a beautiful and cute engraving of an attractive young lady partially nude sleeping in her pillow covered bed within what is a very limited space enclosure.

Her buttocks and breast are revealed, as her white silk night gown fails to cover those parts of her body, but tends to cover all of the rest of her, and she also has a sleeping bonnet on her head, that covers it completely.

In the background is a dark blank wall, and to the viewers right at the foot of the bed, emerging from behind the bed drapes is a young man that is pulling a bed cover over her as she sleeps to preserve her modesty.

By the front of the bed by the foot end, is a small round padded foot stool with four decorative legs; and by the head of the bed is a night table that on its surface has a split candle holder with two candles placed on it, a small metal vase that contain a bouquet of flowers; as well as a carpeted floor with her slippers and cloak lying beside her slipper.

This is a remastered digital art old masters reproduction of a public domain image that is available as a canvas print online.
