Damsel and Her Saluki by American Painter Charles Gates Sheldon (1889 – 1961); an Art Nouveau, Edwardian and Art Deco style illustrator and portrait artist.

This is an elegant 1920s art nouveau fashion portrait drawing of an attractive young lady wearing the fashion of the day, with a full length button down dress with a house pattern on it, a long sleeveless light coat with large pockets near the openings for the arms.

She is also wearing a ruffle like hat, long arms length gloves, pattern stockings and low wide heal shoes.

Beside her on a chain leash is her pet dog Saluki, who’s sleek elegant form compliments the sleek fashion and pose of the young lady.

Charles ka lindur në Worcester, Massachusetts SHBA, por pjesën më të madhe të jetës e kaloi në Springfield, Massachusetts.

Ai filloi studimet e tij artistike në Ligën Studentore të Arteve me vendndodhje në New York City në 215 Rruga 57 Perëndimore, e cila u themelua në 1875 dhe i vendosur fillimisht në dhoma me qira në 16th Street dhe 5th Avenue.

He would also go on to produces covers for Collier’s Magazine, The Saturday Evening Post, Woman’s Home Companion, Theater Magazine and Photoplay from 1925 – 1930; which launched his career as a portrait cover artist.

This recognition led to him receiving commissions from famous women from all over the world, who sat for him at his studio in Carnegie Hall; located in New York City, USA.

This resulted in many of the Hollywood starlets of the time posing for him such as Mae West, Greta Garbo, Mary Pickford, Jean Harlow, Clara Bow, Shirley Temple and many, many others of the Hollywood Golden Age Era.
