Lost in Thought

Lost in Thought c1868 by French-German Painter Henry Guillaume Schlesinger (1814 – 1893); known for his genre and portrait paintings of young woman; and a watercolorist and ivory miniature painter.

This beautiful religious portrait, depicts a young girl kneeling a pew inside of a church deep in thought as she looks off into the distance.

She is wearing a white tunic around her hair that is tied off under her chin with a gold brooch with a gemstone in the center on the front of it.

She is dressed in a white blouse over which she is wearing a black velour dress with brown velour or fur shoulder pads and a gold necklace.

She has her right cheek pressed against her clasped hands, in which she is holding her Rosary that is flowing onto and over a small Bible or prayer book.

Right behind her on her right is a large circular pillar and farther into the distance we can see an enclave that has a stained glass window embedded in it as the daylight streams in.

This is a remastered digital art old masters reproduction of a public domain image that is available as a canvas print online.
