The Alba Madonna

The Alba Madonna by French Artist Baron Auguste-Gaspard-Louis Desnoyers (1779 – 1857), a painter, illustrator and engraver; after Marchigian by the Italian Renaissance Painter Raphael Santi or Sanzio (1483 – 1520).

Bu go'zal diniy san'at engraving of the Virgin Mary with the boys Jesus and John the Baptist at about the age of 5 yillar.

She is dressed in the traditional tunic of the time, with a kerchief wrapped around her hair and wearing leather sandals, seated on an out cropping of rock on an open landscape.

She is holding a prayer book in her left hand that is placed on her left thigh, with Jesus who is holding a long cross in his right hand sits on her right thigh, as he looks over at John the Baptist.

Mary’s hand goes behind Jesus, and her hand rest on the left shoulder of John the Baptist, who is looking at Jesus as he sits on grass covered earth, wearing an animal skin, that covers his left shoulder and goes around his waist.

In the foreground along with the grass a a few flowers and plants and behind them just over a ridge we can see a river and a forest along complex and simple buildings that make up villages on both banks of the river with people; while in the far distance is a mountain range and the sky that is lightly populated with some clouds to the left of the scene.

Below this part of the engraving in large bold upper case text are the words LA VIERGE DE LA MAISON D’ALBE (The Virgin Of The House Of Alba); and below that the signatures of Raphael and Desnoyers with more words written in script below the signatures.
