Zwei schlechte Gewissen
Zwei schlechte Gewissen (Two Guilty Consciences) c1918 by Austrian Painter Karl Reichert (1836 – 1918); known for his genre scenes, animal and landscapes, as well as lithography art.
This is an adorable child genre portrait of a young girl and her dog having a timeout for being naughty.
The young girl seems to be of about 5 years of age and is dressed in a beige dress with a floral pattern on it, a white apron over it, white socks and black leather shoes.
She is seated on a large padded stool in the corner of a room with blue painted walls and a large white base board; and by her legs sits her little dog with a very sad look on its face.
On the floor there is a red pattern carpet that the dog is sitting and that is populated with torn paper that the doggy and the young must have had a hand in creating.
Also by the wall we can see part of a bouquet of flowers that must be on a table that is out of the viewers sight.
