She is wearing gold orb earrings, a white short sleeve blouse, over which she is wearing a red corset and a yellow-gold colored full length dress, blue stockings and black shoes with brass buckles.
She is holding part of her skirt with her right hand; while holding the basket of seafood against her hip with her extended left hand as she looks into the distance from her left.

Eugen von Blaas nasceu em Albano, perto de Roma, de pai tirolês e mãe italiana. Seu pai Karl, também pintor, foi seu professor. Sua mãe, Agnesina Auda, era uma mulher romana abastada. A família mudou-se para Veneza quando Karl se tornou professor na Academia de Veneza.. Ele frequentemente pintava cenas em Veneza, mas também retratos e pinturas religiosas.

The art critic Luigi Chirtani, when the painting was displayed at the Mostra Nazionale di Venezia, described it as Beautiful, flattering, pretty, caressed, cleaned, polished, laundress in a painting by Mr. Blaas, the favorite portraitist of great Venetian aristocrats, dressed in gala satins, shining jewelry, hairstyles of the rich.
His colorful and rather theatrical period images of Venetian society, por exemplo. On the Balcony (1877; Private Collection), were quite different compared to delicate pastels and etchings of the courtyards, balcony and canals of modern Venice.
Eugênio de Blaas’ paintings were exhibited at the Royal Academy, Fine Art Society, New Gallery and Arthur Tooth and Sons Gallery in London, and also at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool
