A Pensive Moment by French Painter Gustave Jean Jacquet (1846 – 1909); a French Academic Painter and a pupil of William-Adolphe Bouguereau
This is a beautiful portrait of a young lady sitting in a red cushioned chair with a white wood frame in deep thought.
She is resting her head on her left hand with her folded left arm resting on a beautifully decorated satin pillow with floral designs that itself is resting on a table that matches the chair in design with a pocket watch resting on it; and that has on its lower shelf two red and white roses.
She has rolled scarf wrapped around her brown hair as well as another gold cloth fitted to the front and flowers adorning her hair on the front and right side.
She is wearing a gold and red corset, a red, blanc, yellow striped jacket with floral designs on the white areas, a black choker around her neck, a white floral scarf tied at the front of her chest, a cloth bracelet with a silver piece on the top and green full length skirt.
To her left is a large red drape, and behind is a darkened entry way that has gold cover paneling along the wall with a matching brown and gold drape; and to the right of that a white floral vase sitting on a ornamental shelf.

Gustave was born in Paris, França en marxa 1846 i va ser deixeble del pintor francès William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825 – 1905) del Neoclassicisme, Realisme, Acadèmic, Simbolisme, Era de l'Art Modern; i mai va ser mentor amb cap altre artista i va ser molt influenciat per ell durant la primera part de la seva carrera.
L'obra d'art de debut de Gustave va ser La Rêverie, una peça d'al·legoria presentada al Saló de 1865; després a 1866 va presentar pintures de petites dimensions que representaven la vida del segle XVI, 17vida dels segles i XVIII, així com pintar retrats de subjectes amb vestits d'època del segle XVI.
En 1875 Gustave va rebre una medalla d'excel·lència i 4 anys més tard va ser nomenat Cavaller de la Legió d'Honor (Legió d'Honor, antigament Reial Orde de la Legió d'Honor); és el màxim ordre de mèrit francès, tant militars com civils. Establert a 1802 de Napoleó Bonaparte.
