A Pensive Moment by French Painter Gustave Jean Jacquet (1846 – 1909); a French Academic Painter and a pupil of William-Adolphe Bouguereau
This is a beautiful portrait of a young lady sitting in a red cushioned chair with a white wood frame in deep thought.
She is resting her head on her left hand with her folded left arm resting on a beautifully decorated satin pillow with floral designs that itself is resting on a table that matches the chair in design with a pocket watch resting on it; and that has on its lower shelf two red and white roses.
She has rolled scarf wrapped around her brown hair as well as another gold cloth fitted to the front and flowers adorning her hair on the front and right side.
She is wearing a gold and red corset, a red, gwyn, yellow striped jacket with floral designs on the white areas, a black choker around her neck, a white floral scarf tied at the front of her chest, a cloth bracelet with a silver piece on the top and green full length skirt.
To her left is a large red drape, and behind is a darkened entry way that has gold cover paneling along the wall with a matching brown and gold drape; and to the right of that a white floral vase sitting on a ornamental shelf.

Gustave was born in Paris, Ffrainc ymlaen 1846 a bu'n ddisgybl i'r paentiwr Ffrengig William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825 – 1905) o'r Neoglasuriaeth, Realaeth, Academaidd, Symbolaeth, Oes celf fodern; a byth wedi mentora gydag unrhyw artist arall a chael ei ddylanwadu'n drwm ganddo yn ystod rhan gynnar ei yrfa.
Gwaith celf cyntaf Gustave oedd La Reverie, darn alegori a gyflwynwyd i'r Salon yn 1865; yna i mewn 1866 cyflwyno paentiadau dimensiwn bach a oedd yn darlunio bywyd yr 16eg, 17bywyd y 18fed ganrif, yn ogystal â phaentio portreadau o bynciau mewn gwisgoedd cyfnod o'r 16eg ganrif.
Yn 1875 Dyfarnwyd medal rhagoriaeth i Gustave a 4 years later was made a Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur (Lleng Anrhydedd, gynt yn Urdd Frenhinol y Lleng Anrhydedd); yw trefn teilyngdod uchaf Ffrainc, milwrol a sifil. Wedi ei sefydlu yn 1802 gan Napoleon Bonaparte.
