After The Ball

After The Ball by Conrad Kiesel (1846 – 1921); sem byrjaði sem myndhöggvari breyttist síðan í að vera málari sem sérhæfði sig í að mála nákvæmar hugsjónamyndir.

An elegant and beautiful portrait of two young women that are relaxing on a red couch after attending a mask ball.

One is a redhead wearing a white satin evening dress and a white fur shawl, holding a black face mask and brown gloves in her left hand; and the other is a brunette holding a large gold and black lace hand fan in her right hand and wearing a satin white and pink evening dress with an embroidered floral pattern.

They both are also wearing god bracelets and have bouquets of flowers on either side of them, that complement the colors of their dresses; while in the background behind the couch is a room divider with a floral and landscape design that connects with a large cherry red drape.

This is a retouched digital art old masters reproduction of a public domain image that is available as a Rúlluð striga prentun á netinu.

Kiesel was the son of the versatile artist and director Karl Kiesel (1812 – 1903) of the Royal High School of Alleestrasse in Düsseldorf.

He began his education studying architecture at the Royal Academy of Architecture and then trained as a sculptor under the mentorship of German Sculptor Fritz Schaper (1841 – 1919).

From there Kiesel then pursued painting in Berlin under German Painter Fritz Paulsen (1838 – 1898), and later studied at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art under the direction of German Genre Painter and art professor Johann August Wilhelm Sohn (1829 – 1899).

Í 1885 Kiesel moved to an settled in Berlin as a freelance painter and from 1870 forward var reglulegur sýnandi á sýningum Berlínarakademíunnar; síðar samþykktur sem meðlimur akademíunnar og á 40 ára afmælisdegi hans skipaður í embætti “o.

Hann átti einnig fulltrúa á sýningum akademíunnar í Düsseldorf, Glerhöllin í München, heimssýninguna í París 1900, árlegar sýningar í Vínarborg í 1872, 1891 og 1892, the Royal Academy of Arts in London in 1909 and the World Exhibition in 1911 in Rome.
