At The Bath av den greske maleren Theodoros Ralli (1852 – 1909); som var kjent for er sjangerscener, landskap og portrettmalerier.
This is a beautiful portrait painting of an alluring young lady in a bath house that is relaxing while taking a steam bath.
Her hair is wrapped with a heavy multi toned brown towel and her body is covered in an off white full length wrap that goes from just above her breast down to her legs.
She is seated on a blue tiled square like bench that has at is center a polygonal enclosure that contains steaming water; while she holds her closed fist up to the sides of her face and head in a stretching pose.
There is light streaming from the right of the scene that illuminated her chest, part of the left side of her face, her left forearm and lap; casting shadows on the other parts of her upper and lower body.
In the background we can see a large arched wall with an enclave that has in it a ceramic or metal water vase, and to the far left of the enclave is a passage way, with a smaller arch; and the steam bath scene is completed with steam vapors rising and floating throughout the room.

Om kunstneren
Theodoros Ralli studerte ved Athens School of Fine Arts under Nikiphoros Lytras (1832 – 1904), og så dro han til Paris, Frankrike hvor kunstverket hans ble påvirket av impresjonistene og som kan sees i er sjangerscener, landskap og portretter; og var kjent for sin evne til å fange lys og atmosfære i kunstverkene sine.
Theodoros var medlem av “München skole” av greske kunstnere, som forsøkte å kombinere tradisjonelle greske temaer med en mer moderne og realistisk stil. Han jobbet også som illustratør for forskjellige aviser og magasiner i Hellas og Europa.
