skógarsýn (Skógarsýn) c1848 eftir hollenskan málara Barend Cornelis Koekkoek (1803 – 1862); þekktur landslagslistamaður og faðir Johannes Hermanus Barend Koekkoek (1840 – 1912); málari af rómantískum og raunsæisstílum sem var þekktur sjómálamaður.
This is a wonderful forest genre scene during sunset, as people are going about their business, encountering their friends and neighbors along a common path.
By the path on the left is a flowing stream that is border on both sides by rocks and boulders and large trees on either side of the embankment.
Along the path we see a lady who may be a mother with a flask, indicating she may have been collecting water, talking to a man on a white horse, who might be a herder as there are cows situated around him with one looking as though it is waiting on him.
There are four other cows nearby, one laying down, another looking across the stream, another eating grass and the fourth watching the other cows.
In the mist of the cows are two sheep, and across from them are four children two girls that are sitting on the ground by a tree, a boy standing by the tree and a baby standing by the younger of the two girls.
Behind the children we see a man following a donkey and two other donkeys next to him that are being used as pack animals.
In a clearing beside the tree the children are near, wee see another cow rest on the ground along with seven sheep who are resting on the ground beside the cow.
Behind these animals we see more sheep the are grazing on the grass in the clearing and beside another tree; and the forest scene is made complete with a beautiful blue sky with billowing orange, yellow and tan colored clouds, with birds flying high above.

Barend var elsti sonur hollenska málarans og teiknarans Johannesar Hermanus Koekkoek (1778 – 1851) og Anna van Koolwijk, fæddist í Sjálandshéraði í október 11, 1803; hann átti líka tvo bræður sem voru einnig farsælir málarar, Hermanus Koekkoek sjómálamaður (1815-1882) og landslagsmálari Marinus Adrianus Koekkoek (1807–1868); auk annars bróður Johannes Koekkoek.
Barend fékk fyrstu listkennslu sína hjá föður, heldur áfram námi við Teiknaakademíuna í Middelburg, þar sem hann lærði undir hollenska málaranum Abraham Krayestein (1793 – 1855) þar sem hann skráði sig 1817.
Barend ákvað feril sem landslagslistamaður, sem hann skaraði fram úr, verið kallaður á meðan hann lifði “Prins landslagsmynda” og þótti mesti garðyrkjumaður síns tíma; verið talinn upphafsfaðir hollenskrar rómantískrar landslagsmálverks.
Helsta landslagsáhersla hans, var að búa til skóglendi og skóg, aðallega með vetrar- og sumarþemu; en málaði þær á öllum árstímum og setti á þær örsmáar myndir af fólki og dýrum sem fara um daglegt líf þeirra; en mikil áhersla á tign náttúrunnar og mikilfengleika sköpunarinnar.
Barend var einn fárra listamanna sem fékk endalausan lista yfir listverðlaun og skreytingar og gat talist til viðskiptavina sinna Friedrich-Wilhelm IV Prússlandskonungur. (1795 – 1861), Tsar Alexander II (1818 – 1881), og Willem II Hollandskonungur (1792 – 1849).
