Dans Le Boudoir

Dans Le Boudoir by French Painter Delphin Enjolras (1857 – 1945); of the Academic Movement, who specialized in creating portraits, nudes and interior paintings using oil, watercolor and pastels. His preferred paintings was genre scenes of young women illuminated by lamplight.

This is a beautiful art nouveau pastel of a young redhead in a semi nude portrait, that is sitting at her makeup table adjusting a headdress on her hair while looking at a large table mirror.

On the table to her left is a small gold and black tinted glass vase with a small bouquet of deep violet and green flowers, that is partially encircled with a light blue silk cloth, that flows of the edge of the table on to the floor and around the front of her legs and underneath her to the back of the chair she is seated on.

The table has on top of it a white cloth covering , a top white ruffled skirt along its perimeter and a full white skirt under that, which compliments the white and blue robe that covers the young woman’s lower part of her body.

On the makeup table there are also two clear perfume bottles, a small blue jewelry box, a large hair pin, scissors, tweezers and several other objects.

To her right we can see a gold satin gown with silver and red accents that is placed over a gray chair, resting on a blue carpet; that is placed in front of an inactive fireplace.

On the mantle of the fireplace there is a blue vase with a bouquet of white, rossu, orange, pink and blue flowers, that is sitting near the left edge, in front of a mantle mirror.
