Dr.. Jayne’s Tonic Vermifuge
Is an 1889 advertising poster by Knapp & Co. Lithographers, N.Y. depicting a mother carrying a baby in a basket marketing the Dr D. Jayne’s Tonic Vermifuge; a sure remedy for worms and the best tonic for the old and young alike. With a second product listed at the bottom as a cure for coughs, colds, asthma or any lung or throat disease – is Dr. D. Jayne’s Expectorant.
The illustration brings the dramatic claims to bear with an image of a young mother with a gypsy look carrying a child in a large basket, that seems to have benefited from the use of the elixir that is being pitched in the advertisement.
