Fragments of an Ancient Temple and Adjacent Buildings
Fragments of an Ancient Temple and Adjacent Buildings (Древни Аеди, И фрагментите от съседни сгради) c1771 by Italian Painter Pietro Gaspari (1720 – 1785), after a painter by Italian Painter (b1726 – )
This is an engraving of ancient ruins by Gaspari, who was known for his Veduta and Capriccio etchings and paintings; with some of his work resembling a more finely detailed yet barren look when compared to the work of Джовани Батиста Пиранези (1720 – 1778).
It features a collection of people walking through and relaxing among the crumbling building of a once great empire; that are overgrown with plants, broken partial arches, broken columns and still standing statues of long forgotten statesmen.
