This pieces joins together all three of the pieces that Hermann Stilke created into one large format; taking the viewer from the Appearance of Saint Catherine and Saint Michael to Joan of Arc when she is in the forest; to Joan of Arc in Battle against the British Forces as she is on horseback leading the troops, and finally to Joan of Arc’s Death at the Stake with the pope and high officials of both the British and the French watching her burn; all in vibrant compelling color.

Anton Hermann Stilke urodził się w Berlinie w Królestwie Pruskim w styczniu 29, 1803 był niemieckim malarzem, studiował na berlińskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych, a następnie w 1821 studia w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Monachium pod kierunkiem niemieckiego mistrza profesora Petera von Corneliusa (1783 – 1867).
Stamtąd wyjechał na studia do Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Düsseldorfie; gdzie malował wraz z niemieckim malarzem Karlem Stürmerem (1803 – 1881) niedokończony fresk Sąd Ostateczny w Assisensaal w Koblencji.
W 1827 Anton podróżował po północnych Włoszech w ramach wyjazdu studyjnego, przybyciu do Rzymu w r 1828. Następnie w 1833 wrócił do Akademii w Düsseldorfie, skąd uczył 1839 – 1843.
Od 1842 – 1846 Anton pracował w Sali Rycerskiej na zamku Stolzenfels niedaleko Koblencji nad brzegiem Renu; i w 1850 osiadł w Berlinie, gdzie zmarł w wieku 57 we wrześniu 22, 1860.
