This is a beautiful scene depicting the characters from Roman mythology Jupiter (The Eagle), Diana (Goddess of the Hunt), and Callisto the favorite Nymph of Diana.

'n Boorling van Parys, Boucher was die seun van 'n minder bekende skilder Nicolas Boucher, wat hom sy eerste artistieke opleiding gegee het. Boucher is getroud met Marie-Jeanne Buzeau in 1733. Die egpaar het saam drie kinders gehad. Sy naam, saam met dié van sy beskermheer Madame de Pompadour, het sinoniem geword met die Franse Rococo-styl, wat die Goncourt-broers gelei het om te skryf: “Boucher is een van daardie manne wat die smaak van 'n eeu verteenwoordig, wat uitdruk, verpersoonlik en beliggaam dit.”
