Above him is an angel carrying a crown the he is placing on his head, while GOD watches from heaven and child angels blow their horns.
In the foreground are men and women with children by his feet begging the Roman soldiers to let him go; as a soldier on horseback begins to trample them with his horse and prepares to strike them with a stick he holds in his hand; while other soldiers in the background threaten the population.

About The Artsit
Nicolas Dorigny was born in Paris, França a 1652, but maybe as late as 1658 and began his studies under the French Portrait Painter and Engraver Pierre Daret (1604 – 1678); quickly gaining a reputation as a skilled engraver, which led to commissions from important patrons as well as the French royal family.
Nicolas artistic style was greatly influenced by the Baroque movement, which was very popular in Europe during the 17th century; and he became known for his detailed and realistic engravings that featured the strong contrast between light and dark, as well as the dramatic poses and expressions of the figures in his engravings.
He became a prominent figure due ti his technical skill and artistic merit; and had a strong focus on creating pieces based on classical myths, legends and Christian saints and martyrs, with “El Martiri de Sant Sebastià” being his most famous work.
