Edouard Bisson werd geboren in Parijs in 1856 en was een leerling van de Franse schilder Jean-Léon Gérôme en zijn meest begaafde leerling. Hij was een schilder van genretaferelen, women’s portraits and maritime scenes, en maakte deel uit van de Late Academische Periode.
Edouard Bisson-kunstwerken werden rond de jaren 1900 populair, het behalen van vele prijzen, waaronder een bronzen medaille op de Exposition Universelle in 1900 en hij werd benoemd tot Ridder in het Legioen van Eer in 1908.
Bisson-kunstwerk is typerend voor het kunstwerk van de academische smaak dat populair was in Parijs aan het begin van de twintigste eeuw, die de schoonheid van vrouwen weerspiegelde in La Belle Epoque.
