This is a late 1920s or early 1930s illustrations of the American film actress, producer, screenwriter and philanthropist Marion Cecillia Douras (1897 – 1961); who was known to the public as Marion Davies.
She began her acting career at the age of 19, performing in the 1916 Follies and also made a film the following year; en bij 1924, with the help of William Randolph Hearst (1863 – 1851) became the number one female box office star in Hollywood.
In this art deco era portrait bust illustration, Marion is wearing a black side up folded short brimmed hat with a silk like scarf attached to the brim, which is linked to some white feathers behind the hat; with her curly golden blonde hair hanging from the sides of her face.

Christy is geboren in 1882 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; en in 1899 op de hoge leeftijd van 17 schilderde originele kunst voor het bedrijf Boardwalk Atlantic City Picture.
Veel van zijn vroege kunstwerken werden ook gepubliceerd door de J. Hoover and Sons Calendar Company uit Philadelphia; toen hij was 23 jaar woonde hij de Pennsylvania Academy of Arts bij 1905 naar 1907.
Tijdens zijn carrière creëerde Christy tientallen tijdschriftomslagen, illustraties en kalenderafdrukken voor publicaties zoals de Dell Publishing Company, Modern scherm en radiosterren, tijdschrift van Ainslee, Amerikaans tijdschrift, Leslie's Illustrated Weekly, McClure's Photoplay Magazine, en vele anderen.
