This is a beautiful representation of a натюрморт flower painting with a small pumpkin as the central focus of the artwork in what appears to be a fruit garden.

The pumpkin sits as the center piece in a weaved pattern platter that rest on a brown marble table; and it is surrounded by apples, peaches, raspberries and other fruits.

Above the pumpkin and other fruits that are on the table are a beautiful collection of red and golden grapes that are interspersed in an abundance of beautifully colored large green leaves that transition off into the distance of warm reddish tones.

Johan began his art training at the Danish Academy of Fine Arts and was a student of both Danish Painter Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg (1783 – 1853) and Danish Flower Painter Cladius (Claus) Detlev Fritzsch (1765 – 1841).

He decided to sepcialize in flower paingting and continued his artistic education in Paris France under the Flemish flower painting brothers Gérard van Spaendonck (1746 – 1822) and Cornelis van Spaendonck (1756 – 1839), as well as at the porcelain factory in Sèvres, О-де-Сен, Франция (one of Europes principle porcelain factories founded in 1740) where he learned the art of miniature flower painting.

Back in Denmark Johan used 17th century Dutch flower painting as a starting point to deveople his own unique style; reviving the art of flower making in Denmark.

His painting generally featured floral arrangements that were both decorative and symbolic; as Danish plants were often mixed with rare flowers and fruits and sometime birds.
