Albert Lynch, born Alberto Fernando Lynch in Gleisweiler a municipality in Südliche Weinstraße district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Western Germany.

His father Diego Lynch was born in Chachapoyas, Peru in November of 1812; and was the son of merchants that had moved to Paris France in the late 1840.

His mother was Adele Bertha Emma Koeffler 1834/35, the daughter of Thomas Koeffler, a German landscape painter working in Paris in the 1850s; and his parents married in New York on May 9, 1852.

They then returned to Paris where Albert began hisartistic studies at the l’École des Beaux-Arts, under the mentorship of French Painter Jules Achille Noël (1815 – 1881), French Painter Gabriel Ferrier (1847 – 1914) and German born French Painter Henri Lehmann (1814 – 1882).

The young ladies of the time were Albert’s favorite subject matter, and in the manner of Belle Époque; he chose to portray them using pastel, gouache and watercolor; while occasionally working with oil.
