The Deluge
The Deluge c1866 by French Painter Gustave Doré (1832 – 1883); though he primarily worked as a wood engraver, he also was a printmaker, caricaturost, comics artist, illustrator and a sculptor.

An impressive engraving of the Biblical Religious Tale of The Great Flood as animals and people alike seek refuge on the last boulder remaining above the waves; this is the front piece of Gustave’s illustrated version of the Bible; which is based on Noah’s Ark.
In the air we see eight sea birds flying around as the sea below them rages relentlessly; while on the last boulder above water there is a mother tiger with a cub in her mouth and two others between her front paws.
Beside and to the right of the tiger are four children that a father has managed to push onto the top of the boulder has he struggles to stay afloat while he does his best to keep his wife above the waves.
Beside him is a man that has lost his battle with the see and is slowly drowning; while a short distance from him is another man sinking the waves as he tries to keep his son above the raging sea.
The Deluge is a remastered digital art old masters reproduction of a public domain image that is available as a mihise inprimatu sarean.
