Paysage d'hiver avec château dans les montagnes (Paysage d'hiver avec complexe de châteaux dans les montagnes) c~ du peintre germano-russe Albert Bredow (1828 – 1899), qui était aussi lithographe et scénographe; spécialisée dans la peinture de paysages.
Le tableau représente un paysage d'hiver avec une route incurvée qui se connecte à un pont à double arc menant à un château sur une colline avec de la neige recouvrant légèrement le château et les falaises de fondation.. La scène se déroule contre une belle chaîne de montagnes, dont une partie est recouverte d'une forêt verdoyante, et la toile de fond de la montagne est recouverte de nuages d'hiver.
Au premier plan, nous pouvons voir des gens monter la colline portant des fagots de bois qui ont été ramassés dans la forêt.

About Albert Bredow
Albert was a painter of landscapes, portraits and genre scenes, and was a student of the Academy of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg and of the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, under the guidance of the painter German Painter Wilhelm von Kaulbach (1805 – 1874).
He was a member of the Peredvizhniki (Vagabonds) mouvement; which was a group of Russian realist artists who rejected the restrictions of academic art and advocated for the use of contemporary life as a subject matter, and was one of the leading painters of the movement, with his works being considered as masterpieces of Russian Realism.
Bredow’s landscapes and genre scenes are known for their attention to detail, and his use of light, as the use of color and texture tend to convey a sense of the Russian countryside, and the people going about their daily lives.
He was particularly adept at capturing the unique character and atmosphere of the regions in which he worked; and was also known for his portraits, which were often of local people, with a special emphasis on their work and professions.
Bredow’s work is considered to be in the Realist style, which emphasizes the accurate representation of the visual appearance of the subject, and often with a social or political message.
