This is a beautiful colorful winter landscape painting with reddish-orange clouds set against a light blue sky where birds are flying, that form the backdrop for the people that have gathered by a frozen river; near which stands a collection of grand old building.
We can see trees, some that have not loss there leaves and are showing there beautiful green color stat stands out against the orange, brown and light green shrubbery and the terrain that is covered in snow.
There are people and animals on both sides of the river bank including men, mná, clann, dogs and horses; and on the frozen river there are children playing, adults skating and others using a sled to cross the icy terrain.

Frederik Marinus Kruseman received his first drawing lessons from still life painter Jan Reekers (1790 – 1858), who at the time was Director of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam; and who had also tutored his cousin Jan Adam while attending a vocational school in Haarlem from 1832 chun 1833.

D’fhill sé ar ais go Haarlem ina dhiaidh sin agus uaidh sin go Kleve in iarthuaisceart na Gearmáine áit ar phéinteáil sé tírdhreacha, sular fhill sé abhaile i 1839.
I 1841 bhog sé go dtí an Bhruiséil agus d’fhan sé ann go dtí 1852, seachas ar feadh tréimhse ghairid cúpla mí nuair a chuaigh sé go Páras. I 1852 chuaigh sé ar ais abhaile go Haarlem agus d’fhan sé ann ar feadh ceithre bliana, ina dhiaidh sin chuaigh sé chun na Beilge, áit ar fhan sé go dtí go bhfuair sé bás i 1882.
