This is a beautiful portrait of a young lady sitting in a red cushioned chair with a white wood frame in deep thought.
She is resting her head on her left hand with her folded left arm resting on a beautifully decorated satin pillow with floral designs that itself is resting on a table that matches the chair in design with a pocket watch resting on it; and that has on its lower shelf two red and white roses.
She has rolled scarf wrapped around her brown hair as well as another gold cloth fitted to the front and flowers adorning her hair on the front and right side.
She is wearing a gold and red corset, a red, valkoinen, yellow striped jacket with floral designs on the white areas, a black choker around her neck, a white floral scarf tied at the front of her chest, a cloth bracelet with a silver piece on the top and green full length skirt.
To her left is a large red drape, and behind is a darkened entry way that has gold cover paneling along the wall with a matching brown and gold drape; and to the right of that a white floral vase sitting on a ornamental shelf.

Gustave syntyi Pariisissa, Ranska päälle 1846 ja oli ranskalaisen taidemaalari William-Adolphe Bouguereaun oppilas (1825 – 1905) uusklassismista, Realismi, Akateeminen, Symboliikka, Modernin taiteen aikakausi; eikä koskaan mentoroinut kenenkään muun taiteilijan kanssa ja saanut häneltä voimakkaita vaikutteita uransa alkuvaiheessa.
Gustaven debyyttitaideteos oli La Reverie, Salonille esitelty allegoriapala 1865; sitten sisään 1866 esitteli pienikokoisia maalauksia, jotka kuvasivat 16. luvun elämää, 17ja 1700-luvun elämää, sekä maalata muotokuvia kohteista 1500-luvun aikakausiasuissa.
Sisään 1875 Gustave palkittiin huippuosaamisen mitalilla ja 4 vuotta myöhemmin hänet valittiin Kunnialegioonan ritariksi (Kunnialegioona, entinen Legion of Honor -kuninkaallinen ritarikunta); on Ranskan korkein ansiomerkki, sekä sotilaallinen että siviili. Perustettu 1802 kirjoittanut Napoleon Bonaparte.
