Towards the left of the bouquet of flowers is a large blue vase with golden ornate handles, in which we can see the reflection of a window.
Near the base of the vase we can see a birds nest containing two eggs; while at the far right of the image we can see a small brown bird with an orange throat and grey head and neck, with yellow, white and black markings on its wings.

Cornelis was a still life painter born in Tilburg, which is located in the sourthern province of North Barbant in the Netherlands in 1756.
He received his initial training under the mentorship of historical and portrait Flemish Painter Guillaume-Jacques Herreyns (1743 – 1827) i Antwerpen (considered to be one of the last painters of the Flemish Baroque Style of painting),.
I 1773 he would move to Paris, France to study under is older brother, floral painter Gérard van Spaendonck (1746 – 1822); and some time later in 1785 he became the administrative head at the porcelain factory in Sèvres, Hauts-de-Seine, Frankrike.
Which at the time was one of Europe’s principle porcelain factories; being founded in 1740 som Vincennes porslinstillverkning i det nedlagda kungliga Château de Vincennes, i Vincennes, öster om Paris; flyttar sedan till Sèvres in 1756.
Några fem år in 1800 han klev av från denna position, eftersom vi befriades från hans uppgifter, men stannade kvar som designer och artist till 1808.
Två av Cornelis mer kända stillebenmålare var, Fransk blomstermålare Mélanie de Comoléra (1789 – 1854) och danska blomstermålaren Johan Laurentz Jensen (1800 – 1856).
År 1789 blev Cornelis medlem i Académie des Beaux Arts och hela livet visas många av stillebenstavlor i salongerna i Paris tills 1833.
