This is a beautiful portrait of Jennie Walters Delano (1853 – 1922) the daughter of William T. and Ellen Walters (née Harper), and the sister of Henry Walters; and was most likely done around the time of her marriage when she was 23 anos de idade.
In the painting she is sitting in front of an olive colored wall, with her tied in a circular bundle toward the back of her head.
She is wearing a gold necklace with a ruffled collar white blouse and a black dress with blue a black ruffles along the v-shaped collar that match a sash that she has tied around her waist.

George foi um miniaturista e pintor de retratos de sucesso da era vitoriana, seu pai, que também era artista, começou a instruir George na arte da pintura em miniatura desde cedo, o que o levou aos dezesseis anos a iniciar uma carreira como pintor de miniaturas.
No prosseguimento de sua carreira, ele frequentou aulas na Academia Nacional de Design por sete anos., e de 1846 – 1848 viajou para a Europa, e ao retornar montou um estúdio como retratista de sucesso em Nova York, EUA.
Em 1851 ele foi eleito membro da Academia Nacional de Design; e de 1867 para 1869 ele foi instrutor na Academia Nacional de Design, e continuou a expor seu trabalho artístico regularmente, até sua morte em 1880 com a idade de 59.
