Johannes was born in the Hague, Netherlands in 1817 左肩で休む 14 became a student of Dutch Painter Bartholomeus Johannes van Hove (1790 – 1880).

During this time he also painted the interiors of several churchs and would have a great deal of success doing this type of artwrok throughout his career.
