Vinzenz Fisher was an accomplished architect and historical painter, who served as the professor of architecture at the Academy of Vienna.
He was born in Bavaria, Germany and did his initial artistic studies in Passau, Allemagne; puis à l'âge de 22 he entered the Vienna Academy, and from there traveled to Italy in 1753 où il est resté jusqu'à 1755, and then returned to Vienna.
Dans 1760 he was accepted as a member to the Vienna Academy, and with his extensive knowledge of architecture and geometry received the post of professor of architecture in 1764; where he served for the next 44 années.
