Victoria, Duges Caint (1786 – 1861) c1935 gan yr arlunydd Prydeinig George Hayter (1792 – 1871) a oedd yn arbenigo mewn portreadau a phaentiadau gyda channoedd o unigolion.
This is a beautiful portrait of German Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, later to become Duchess of Kent and Strathearn and the mother of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom.
She is posing in a burgundy off shoulder dress with ruffles, wearing a white hat with large white feather accents and a gold hair pin with pearls.
She is wearing a pair of matching pearl and ruby gemstone earrings, including a very large doubly wrapped pearl necklace that is folded in the middle and flows over the v-section of her dress.
Finishing things off we can see her pearl bracelet and a hand fan she is holding in her left hand. In the background we see to larger trees and in the distance we can see a section of a large terrain.

George Hayter was the son of Charles Hayter (1761 – 1835), a miniature painter and popular drawing-master and teacher of perspective who was appointed Professor of Perspective and Drawing to Princess Charlotte and published a well-known introduction to perspective and other works.
Initially tutored by his father, he went to the Royal Academy Schools early in 1808, but in the same year, after a disagreement about his art studies, ran away to sea as a Midshipman in the Royal Navy. His father secured his release, and they came to an agreement that Hayter should assist him while pursuing his own studies.
At the Royal Academy Schools he studied under Fuseli, ac yn 1815 was appointed Painter of Miniatures and Portraits by Princess Charlotte. Hayter was awarded the British Institution’s premium for history painting for the Prophet Ezra (1815; Downton Castle), purchased by Richard Payne Knight.
