This is one of two versions Thiele did of this painting, it is warm and beautiful portrait of a young lady kneeling at a pew with a closed prayer book in her hands as she looks upwards into the streaming light.
The warm glow of sunlight illuminates her face as well as the large column pillar to her right and the other features of the churches interior architecture.
She is wearing a wine red velour dress and a white blouse with ruffled white cuffs and collar underneath her dress; a bluish-white knitted shawl around her shoulders and arms as well as a blue hate with a white scarf that wraps around it and hinds behind her head; with the hat holding a small bundle of green flowers.

Anton Thiele, was born Hans Anton Thiele to instrument maker Frederik Anto Thiele (1792 – 1859 and Anne Johanne Marie Jakobsen (1810 – 1891) in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Though he study at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts for a brief period of time Anton was for the most part self taught. ב 1862 he made is debut in Charlottenborg , Berlin with his painting Parti I En Have.
Sadly later that year he contracted an I disease which for quite some time prevented hime from persuing his artistic career; and during this period worked partially in the new field of photography and as an accountant, until about 1870.
מ 1872 ל 1880 he lived in Italy and while there created several landscape paintings of the Italian Islands Capri and Ischia; as well as everal figurative paintings (paintings or sculptures derived from real object sources).
