After The Ball
After The Ball by Conrad Kiesel (1846 – 1921); who started out as a sculptor then changed to being a painter specializing in painting detailed idealized female portraits.
An elegant and beautiful portrait of two young women that are relaxing on a red couch after attending a mask ball.
One is a redhead wearing a white satin evening dress and a white fur shawl, holding a black face mask and brown gloves in her left hand; and the other is a brunette holding a large gold and black lace hand fan in her right hand and wearing a satin white and pink evening dress with an embroidered floral pattern.
They both are also wearing god bracelets and have bouquets of flowers on either side of them, that complement the colors of their dresses; while in the background behind the couch is a room divider with a floral and landscape design that connects with a large cherry red drape.
