De Zaal Der Physica Van Felix Meritis (The Hall Of The Physics Of Felix Meritis To J. Kuyper) c1794 by Dutch Painter & Engraver Reinier Vinkeles (1741 – 1816) after a painting by Dutch Painter Pieter Pietersz Barbiers II (1749 – 1842)
This is an engraving of a group of scientist at The Hall of the Physics Felix Meritis to J. Kuyper where a scientific experiment is being presented to a group of scientist in a lecture hall that has at its center a table with a Leyden jars; an instrument that is capable of storing a high voltage electric charge.
Above the table is a large chandelier lighting fixture that uses candles to light up the room, and off to the side is an easel with a board on it, for the equations that explains the mathematics behind the workings of the Leyden jar.
On the second level of the hall we can see a balcony with people leaning over to hear and view the discussion of the instrument, three doors that give access to the upper level, and six curved windows.
