Norman Prescott-Davies was born in the village of Isleworth London in the United Kingdom in 1862.

He was educated at the London International College and at South Kensington and at the age of 29 was elected Associate of the Royal College of Art and later to the Royal Society of British Artists in 1893.

Norman Prescott-Davies was known for his romanticized portraits of Greco-Roman young ladies, as well as a miniaturist and a figure painter; and along with Alma-Tadema, Godward, Coleman, Bulleid and others; was among the artists of the period sometimes referred to as “toga and terrace” or the “marble school.”
