Oriente y Occidente c1854 por el pintor belga Nicaise de Keyser (1813 – 1887); who specialized in portraiture and historical paintings and who was a main figure in the Belgian Romantic-Historical School of Painting.

The young lady is also wearing large gold bangle earrings, a necklace of gold coins with a heart shaped brown gemstone at its center, an upper arm gold bracelet with red, azul, brown gemstones embedded in it and a ceramic white and blue bracelet on her left wrist.

For clothing she has around her arms and waist a robe of similar color and design as the kerchief with a blue sash of similar design on top and a red cloth over that.

The young Occident or woman of the west; which is most likely from Europe, has a floral headdress around her head that is comprised of small white and blue flowers and larger pink and red roses.

She is leaning against and sitting on a large stone block that is part of a large column that is situated on a large stone pillar; relaxing on a folded with robe that is also around her left arm and waist, with another red silk robe placed around and on top of her legs.

Underneath the red robe is a large parchment with writing on it, and additional roses and other flowers resting on top; while she holds a large string pearl necklace in her right hand that she has removed from the jewelry box that is resting on her lap and that the oriental young woman is also holding with her left hand.

On the column by which the women have been posed by we can also see some plants and in the background we can see a large terrain that is highlighted by a grand palace in the distance; while the scene is capped off with a beautiful blue sky with white clouds.
