Beatrice by Thomas-Francis Dicksee – Portrait Of A Lady

Beatrice c1863 by British Painter Thomas-Francis Dicksee (1819 – 1895), a portrait artist who specialized in the historical genre; and was often inspired by the works of Shakespeare.

This is a portrait of a young lady in a reddish pink and white dress wearing a tiara and holding a feather fan in her right hand which is placed under her left hand who’s hand rest on the forearm of the right arm.

She appears to be standing on a marble balcony with a column to her right that contains an assortment of plants, with more plants on her left; while in the background we can a rich landscape of trees and mountains that run to the edge of a possible lake.
