Eavesdropping

Eavesdropping by Italian Painter Vittorio Reggianini (1858 – 1938); a 19th century genre painter of bourgeois life.

This is a vintage portrait of an attractive auburn haired young lady that seems quite amused as she listens through closed doors behind two very large reddish satin drapes; on the conversation(s) that is taking place on the other side of the door.

She has her hair tied in a bundle with a large gold ring headpiece, is wearing a gold chain necklace with a large gemstone, a gold bracelet adorned with pearls on her right hand, satin white shoes and a full length pink satin dress with a low cut collar, and an included draped back piece that stretches onto the ground behind her.

The floor that she is standing is blue with thick rings of copper that form circular patterns that complement the color of her dress and the hanging drapes.

This is a beautifully painted vintage art painting with a similar style to that of French-Italian Painter Frédéric Soulacroix (1858 – 1933); especially on how they handle the texture of the materials.

This is a remastered digital art old masters reproduction of a public domain image that is available as a canvas print online.
