The Eyes Without A Face Are Always Watching c2014
“The Eyes Without A Face Are Always Watching” (2014) by Xzendor7, is a haunting and otherworldly piece that delves deep into the realms of surrealism and cosmic horror. This digital composition explores the concept of an ever-watchful presence, depicted through a visually striking representation of a large, faceless head surrounded by an ethereal swirl of smoke and light. The starkness of the figure’s eyes, illuminated in sharp contrast to the darkness surrounding them, conveys an unnerving sensation of being observed by an unseen force. The artwork blurs the boundaries between the human and the alien, as well as the abstract and the tangible, offering a glimpse into a reality beyond our own.

Main Subject: The Eyes Without a Face
The central figure in this artwork is an enigmatic and faceless humanoid head that dominates the composition. The absence of a face imbues the piece with a sense of emptiness, yet the illuminated eyes, piercing and watchful, inject an element of malevolence. These eyes seem to pierce into the viewer’s very soul, as if aware of every motion, every thought. The absence of facial features other than the eyes evokes a sense of alienation and detachment, while the eyes themselves become the sole point of connection between the viewer and the mysterious figure.
The head itself is encased in a luminous, glowing aura of purple and blue smoke, which swirls around it in an otherworldly manner. This swirling, ethereal mist suggests that the being is not bound by physical reality, but exists in a state of constant flux and observation. The eyes are not just passive; they are actively searching, watching, and perhaps even judging. This concept of surveillance beyond the material world plays into the title of the piece, emphasizing the notion that these “eyes without a face” are ever-vigilant, aware of everything that occurs in their vicinity.
Surrounding Objects and Terrain
Beneath the head, an intricate circular platform emerges from the surrounding darkness. This platform is set against a dark void, perhaps suggesting the vast, infinite expanse of space or the void of the mind. The surface of the platform is reflective, showing a faint hint of texture that resembles the surface of a stone or a metallic structure. The platform itself may represent the boundary between the terrestrial and the unknown—an anchor for the otherwise free-floating head, which appears untethered from the physical realm.
A set of faint, angular, and geometric shapes surround the central figure, adding to the composition’s complexity. The blurred contours of the platform suggest a deliberate emphasis on the unnatural, the ethereal, and the shifting nature of space within the artwork. This interplay of form and void creates a disorienting effect, forcing the viewer to confront their own sense of scale and perception.
Materials and Composition
The composition of “The Eyes Without A Face Are Always Watching” utilizes a fusion of sharp, defined lines and softer, ethereal textures. The head itself is rendered with clean, precise detail, lending it a sense of realism within the otherwise abstract environment. Its smooth, reflective surface contrasts with the smoky, turbulent aura that surrounds it, adding depth and contrast to the work. The eyes are especially vivid, crafted with precision to appear both lifelike and unnerving.
The colors used in the piece—blues, purples, blacks, and soft whites—serve not only to accentuate the central figure but also to heighten the atmosphere of mystery and suspense. The choice of these colors creates a sense of isolation, with the cool tones reinforcing the sense of distance and detachment, while the sharp whites of the eyes pierce through the surrounding darkness like beacons of surveillance.
The fluidity of the smoke and mist that envelops the figure contrasts with the sharpness of the surrounding shapes, creating a visual tension that suggests a conflict between structure and chaos, control and freedom. The swirling movement of the mist evokes a sense of motion, but also a sense of being trapped in an endless cycle, as though time itself is meaningless in the face of such omnipresent observation.
Theme and Mood
The dominant theme of “The Eyes Without A Face Are Always Watching” is surveillance, both physical and metaphysical. The title itself invokes a sense of paranoia and helplessness, suggesting that no matter how isolated or far-reaching one may go, there is always someone—or something—observing. The concept of an eye without a face emphasizes the impersonal nature of this surveillance; it is not about a connection or a relationship, but rather about the cold, detached act of watching.
The mood of the artwork is deeply unsettling. The glowing eyes of the central figure create an eerie, almost predatory feeling, while the surrounding mist and darkness suggest that the figure is both out of reach and yet inescapably present. The interplay of light and shadow, of sharp focus and diffuse blur, enhances this mood of tension, evoking a sense of vulnerability and unease. The eyes, although devoid of a face, suggest a deep, existential awareness, creating a mood that oscillates between curiosity and dread.
Conclusion
Xzendor7’s “The Eyes Without A Face Are Always Watching” is a deeply immersive and thought-provoking work that challenges the viewer to confront the concept of surveillance in both its literal and figurative forms. The striking central figure, surrounded by a misty, cosmic environment, conveys a sense of both awe and terror. The piece forces the viewer to confront the notion of being observed, both by forces beyond their understanding and by their own internal anxieties. Through its masterful use of color, form, and symbolism, the artwork invites contemplation on the themes of isolation, surveillance, and the nature of consciousness itself.
About The Artwork
The Eyes Without A Face Are Always Watching Makes A Comment On The Ever Expanding Hidden Surveillance That Encroaches Every Aspect Of Our Lives.
The fractal art composition is the piece from which the “Power Of Elvgren” was derived; it features a moon ring fractal element that is aqua green in color, whose ends transition into lightning cloud fractals on the sides; which creates a glass sphere type of look.
Inside the sphere are more grey-blue cloud fractals with a yellow star fractal at the center top above the a partial face skull structure with glowing elements that form the the glowing eyes; which are all made with fractal elements.
Below that is a large pedestal type structure with a large blue-white glowing fractal dome, with other fractals at the base center that look like rising white strings and clouds that are connected to the large base fractal element.
At the sides of this base plate are other fractal elements that help make the base look like a disc; and along the front perimeter of the disc, are the words that are contoured to the curve of the disc that say DATA CENTRAL RECORDING, repeated three times.
Below that are addition fractals that complete the look of a metal pedestal fading into the darkness; and at the center of the piece just in front of two towers behind the base, but below the eyes, the words – The Eyes Without A Face Are Always Watching.
