This is a wonderful genre winter townscape scene depicting a small town comprising many three and four level buildings that are made up of homes and small shops.
In the scene we can see a large group of people; mostly women going about their daily routines as well as shopping and conversing with each other.
The sky is filled with large dark clouds as well as lighter white and yellow clouds set against a light blue ski with smoke rising from the buildings chimneys rising toward the clouds.
The ground, buildings and the roof of buildings is cover with snow as more specks of snow come floating down to the ground.
