Natale Schiavoni was born in Chioggia, a coastal town of the Metropolitan City of Venice in Northern Italy; and is believed to be a distant descendant of Italian Renaissance painter and etcher Andrea Schiavoni (Andrea Meldolla) 1510/15 – 1563.
While studying in Venice Natale trained with Venetian Painter Francesco Maggiotto ( 1738 – 1805) and later became a Neoclassic painter.
In 1816, Schiavoni was invited by the Austrian Emperor to Vienna, to become the official portraitist for the court.
Then in 1821 he returned to Venice, where he became a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts.
