Flora

Flora by German Painter Hans Hassenteufel (1887 – 1943); known for his Orientalist style portraiture and nude paintings.

This portrait painting depicts a young blonde lady as the Roman Goddess of Flowers and of the season of Spring, who is known as Flora.

She is shown close to a shoreline with a large tree filled with leaves behind her near a rocky embankment that over looks a river and a mountain terrain in the background.

She is dressed in a rose colored off shoulder two layer dress, with a blue shawl draped over her right shoulder and upper arm .

Her body is in side profile facing the shore, with her head turned to her left facing the view; and is carrying a large bowl of mixed flowers of red, pink, white, yellow and blue colors in her right hand supported against the right side of her waist, while holding a small collection of yellow and blue-white flowers in her turned up left hand that is trailing behind her left thigh.
