Torquato Tasso and the Two Leonores (Eleonora d’Este and Leonora Sanvitale) c1839 by German Painter Karl Ferdinand Sohn (1805 – 1867) of the Düsseldorf school of painting.

This painting depicts the Italian Poet of the 16th Century Torquato Tasso in deep thought as he composes one of his pieces, while Eleonora d’Este (1515 – 1575), a Ferrarese noblewoman and the brilliant Leonora Sanvitale (1558 – 1582) a noblewoman and singer at the Este court at Ferrara watch him as they stroll through the garden.
